AUSTRALIANS TO MAKE TOUR COUNCIL AND CYCLISTS By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 6. The Council of the. New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night decided to invite the Australians, J. Horsfall, E. W. Barwick and J. P. Metcalfe, to visit New Zealand, leaving Sydney on February 15. Horsfall is a 100 and 220 yards runner. Barwick’s distances are one to ten miles, while Metcalfe competes in high and long jumps and the hop, step and jump. It was decided to hold the New Zealand championships at Wellington on February 16 and 17. A suggestion from the Otago Centre that the question of securing a coach from England be investigated, was discussed, and it was decided to refer the subject to the centres for their opinions.

The following were granted reinstatement;—A. E. Lacey (Whangarei), A. F. Wilson (Whangarei), G. Whittle (Whakatane), G. S. Akroyd (Whakatane), G. J. Robertson (Rotorua), J. E. Symes (Whangarei) and O, L, Davies (Taneatua). The applications of G. W. White (Hawera) and V. Barratt (Blenheim) were declined. Following the receipt of letters from centres approving separation in the control of cycling, the Council passed the following resolution: “That this meeting, after having conferred with the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Association (professional body), hereby decides to withdraw from the control of cycling, and that the Council will not countenance or agree to amateur cycling events being held at athletic meetings, and will not agree to athletic events being held at amateur cycling meetings; that notice of motion be given forthwith to eliminate all reference to cycling from the association's rules; that this Council places on record its appreciation of the services rendered to cycling by the members of the Cycling Council, Cycling Centre, amateur delegates on the New Zealand Cycling Federation, and to Mr M. J. Coffey.”
