SWIMMING
OLD BOYS’ CLUB ANNUAL REPORT The fifteenth annual report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Timaru High School Old Boys' Amateur Swimming Club states:— The membership at the close of the season was 19 seniors and two juniors showing a decided increase over the last few years which is decidedly gratifying. During the season 12 weekly swims were held at the West End Baths, the entries being very good. The races were keenly contested and some excellent finishes were witnessed, reflecting great credit on the handicapper. The winner of the R. J. McKeown Challenge Cup was in doubt until the last race, as throughout the season the points were very close all the time and A. Rippin and J. Healy, after the last event, proved to be the winners. Both are to be congratulated on their consistent swimming during the year. This year great improvement in diving was made by members of the Club, the South Canterbury diving championship being won by K. Moffatt, and with the improvement made your club hopes this coming season to be represented at the New Zealand National Championship. The 100 yards South Canterbury championship was also won by one of our members, R. Sutherland, and we congratulate our members on their success. Though not holding a carnival your club was well represented by its members at all carnivals held by other clubs both in the town and country and several members were successful in winning events. During the season the following swimmers have brought honour to the club by winning centre championships: R. Sutherland 100 yards South Canterbury championship, 440 yards centre handicap race, fastest time Speechley Mile: K. Moffatt, South Canterbury diving championship. In conclusion we wish to place on record our appreciation of the services rendered to us during the season by the following: Mr C. W. Wood, president; Mr W. Allport, auditor; Mr J.
