GALE SWEEPS AUCKLAND

GARDENS AND ORCHARDS SUFFER. By TeleeraDh — Press Association AUCKLAND, November 6. A gale which swept Auckland this morning caused considerable damage to gardens and orchards. The wind abated toward mid-day and conditions in the afternoon were much improved. The gale was also experienced on the West Coast and continued until this evening. The weather was rough at sea, and the steamer Kia Ora, which was due at noon to-day from Wellington, did not arrive until this evening, having met the storm in the Bay of Plenty.
