FRIENDLY GAME OF CRICKET NAVY BEATS LOCAL TEAM Playing at Timaru on Labour Day. a team from H.M.S. Dunedin beat a Waimate team by 157 runs to 113. Guy (38), Samways (14), Verity (13), Dudman (12) and Miller (10) were the double figure scorers for the losers, for whom Dacre took 5 wickets, and S. and C. Fleming 2 each, and Guy 1. Lawrence (29), Wilkes (28), and Staby 123), were the highest scorers for the Navy, for whom Staby also took 5 wickets. Wilkes 4, ard Winch 1. The following will represent Waimate B cricket team to play Waimate A at Victoria Park to-morrow:—Dacre, Stevens (3), Keyes, Johnstone, Howe, Wright, Leslie, Webster, Neale, and Buckingham. The following is the draw for this week's games in the Waimate Crick't Association’s competitions:—Waimate A v. Waimate B, at Victoria P3.’k; High School v. C.F.C.A. at High School; Glenavy v. Redcliff at Redcliff. TULIP SHOW. Following are the decorative and special prizes for the tulip show held under the auspices of the Waimate Methodist Church on Saturday last:— Decorative.—Bowl of Tulips: Miss GUI 1, Mrs J. I. Hayman 2, Mrs A. Grant and Mrs C. Coventry equal 3. Vase of tulips: Miss GUI 1, Mrs A. Grant 2 and 3. Special Prizes.—Champion bloom (Ladies' GuUd Cup)—Mr F. Bremner (Dunedin). Best collection (Mr A. W. Barnett’s special), N. Nelson (Pareora). Most points varieties (Mrs C. Coventry’s special), Mrs J. I. Hayman. Best bowl of tulips (Mr G. Dash's special), Miss Gill. Best vase (Mr F. Nash’s special, Miss GiU. Best collection ranunculas (Mrs S. J. Adams’ special), Mrs J. W. Hayes. The arrangements for the show reflect great credit upon the secretary (Mr C. Coventry), and his band of assistants, especially Miss Gardner and Mr A. B. Boyd.

Mr E. Cholerton, proprietor of John R. Procter, Ltd., the Premier Opticians, Christchurch (established 1877), wiU be making the next regular professional visit to Waimate on Saturday, 9th December, 1933
