TENNIS MATCH ORARI v. ORARI BRIDGE Members of the Orarl Bridge Tennis Club travelled to Orari on Labour Day to play a friendly match, the home team proving the winners by 98 games to 76. The end of season dance and presentation of trophies of the Four Peaks Miniature Rifle Club, held in the Te Moana Schoolroom, proved very enjoyable. Mr R. Robinson was master of ceremonies, and music was supplied by Messrs Gregan and Fawdry and extras by Messrs S. Drew and Evans. Mr J. Fifleld, who presented the trophies, congratulated the Club on its splendid performance. Although it had the smallest membership of any competing in the competition it had won a large number of trophies. Trophies were awarded as follow: Byrant Challenge Cup won by R. Robinson; G. Yates’ trophy won by C. Burrows; C. Lynn's trophy, won by A. J. Hodgkin; G. Burrows’s trophy won by J. Robinson; R. Ford’s trophy won by H. Mallinson: A. Quantock’s trophy won by R. Robinson; A. J. Hodgkin’s trophy won by D. Wooding; Mrs R. Robinson’s trophy won by C. Burrows; L. Orr’s trophy won hy R. Ford; Mrs A. J. Burrows's trophy won by R. Robinson; R. Robinson's trophy won by H. Mallinson; H. Mallinson’s trophy won by C. Burrows; C. Burrows’s trophy won by L. Orr. PERSONAL Messrs R. Mcllroy and R. Fendle, who have been visiting Geraldine, have returned to Christchurch. “FRANKENSTEIN.” “Frankenstein,” a weird story of a mechanical man, equipped with a criminal’s brain, who escapes and nearly murders his inventor, will head the programme at the Municipal Theatre this evening. The picture is described as positively not suitable for nervous people and children. Boris Karloff plays the role of the monster, and John Boles and Mae Clarke have leading parts. Good supports will also be screened. NOTES.
