MISHAP ON MOUNTAIN

CLIMBER BREAKS A LEG. By Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, October 23. An accident occurred yesterday morning, when a climbing party wqs negotiating The Pinnacle, 6970 feet, the highest peak in the Sounds range. Mr Theodore B. Hay, a well known Blenheim draper, slipped on the snow slope a short distance from the sufnmit, and slid 50 feet till brought up by a rock, the impact breaking his right leg. Two companions, Messrs Frank Patchett and J. H. Hadfteld carried Mr Hay over 3000 feet down the mountainside, and here the injured man was placed cm a horse, which was brought up from the base camp. Blenheim was reached 12 hours after the accident, and Mr Hay was sent to hospital.
