WORLD’S WORST OFFICIAL BUILDINGS
OBSERVATIONS OF THE HUMORIST "Who burnt the Reichstag?” asks “The Man About Town" in "The Cape Times” (South Africa). “Most of the specific charges, those against the more picturesquely named gentlemen conoemed, have been dropped. There remains only the Hollander, van der Lubbe, who is alleged to have catburglared himself into the building. This must have worried the Shadow Trial in London, for apparently it started work under the assumption that all were guilty—or at least considered so by the Hitler Government. It la all very awkward. Meanwhile I understand that a fund may shortly be started among lovers of architecture all over the world in order to arrange for a monster presentation of van der Lubbe, if and when he is found guilty. The presentation—if it comes to anything—will be given to him in recognition of his efforts to rid the world of one of its worst official buildings.”
