FARES REFUSED

BRIEF STRIKE OF TAXI-DRIVERS. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, October 21. As a result of. failure to negotiate a reasonable settlement in regard to hours of work and general conditions with the management of Black and White Cabs, Ltd, the men went on strike. This morning, though the cabs were standing at their usual posts, the men declined to accept fares. After conferences in the afternoon with the management the men decided to resume work under protest. The management declined to negotiate until the drivers resumed. A conference between the parties will probably be held on Wednesday.
