BENEFICIAL RAIN FURTHER FALL WANTED After a long spell of dry weather, welcome rain fell on Friday morning and afternoon, and continued intermittently through the night. The fall amounted to 52 points. Saturday broke clear and fine, but later the conditions were decidedly wintry. More rain fell during the night and was succeeded by a sharp frost. The weather is still unsettled and another drenching would be of Inestimable benefit as crops have been kept back owing to the parched state of the ground. CRICKET. Arrangements made to play a cricket match at Geraldine on Saturday against a team from the Temuka Culb were abandoned owing to the wet state of the Oval. Geraldine players will have a tryout next Saturday, when a team from the Peel Forest Cricket Club will meet a local team. ST. MARY’S PARISH. Bishop West-Watson officiated at the services in St. Mary’ s Parish yesterday, when there were large congregations. The Bishop was the celebrant at Holy Communion at St. Mary’s at 8 o’clock and Hir, Lordship preached at Peel Forest at 9.30 a.m., and at Woodbury at 11 a.m. Bishop West-Watson was also the preacher at St. Mary's at evensong.
