ARMED ATTACKS IN IRELAND
SENSATIONAL RAID ON DANCE HALL FIVE WOUNDED IN ENCOUNTER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 17, 11.38 p.m.) DUBLIN. October 17. A sensational attack was made on a dance hall in Ballingar. County Galway, while one hundred belonging to the United Ireland Party were dancing. Shots penetrated the windows and five fell wounded. The attack lasted halt an hour. The police searched the district without result. Other disquieting incidents are reported. Armed men barricaded the road to Mallow', with trees, stopping a van carrying "The Cork Examiner” newspaper. They forced the driver to depart and they burnt the newspapers and riddled the tyres and petrol tank with bullets.
