WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
GROUP MEETING. A group meeting of the Washdyke, Rose will, and Pleasant Point Women’s Institutes was held at Washdyke. Mrs Taylor presided, and welcomed members and visitors from Glen-iti. The chief business of the meeting was to discuss the Fair to be held at Temuka. It was decided that a stall be asked for and two members from each Institute be appointed to take charge. It was decided that the next halfyearly group meeting be held at Rosewill. Mrs Taylor asked that nominations for convener be sent to Miss Williams by November. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the Washdyke members, after which the folk dancing team entertained fellow members and visitors. STUDHOLME. At the Studholme Women’s Institute’s annual concert there was a packed house. After the singing of the National Anthem, the president extended a hearty welcome to those present. The programme was as follows: Oneact play, “The Lost Set of Teeth,” Studholme Dramatic Club; Highland dance, Master Jack Eddington; recitation, Mrs Hayman; songs, Mrs Meyer; pianoforte duet, Mesdames F. Saunders and E. Rollinson; part singing, members of the Institute; folk dancing, Misses U. and J. Rollinson, M. Meyer and M. Sullivan (members of the Girls’ Club); playette, “The Hostesses Husband,” Mesdames G. * Murray and H. Hayman; original play (written by Mrs Cliff. Rollinson), "Mrs McSwigan and the Rifle Club,’’ Mesdames C. Rolllnson and A. Young. After a short programme of community singing, supper was served by the Institute members, and the floor cleared for dancing.
