SPRINGBROOK

BASKETBALL DANCE. The Basketball Club held a wind-up dance. The school was decorated with the club’s colours, red and green foliage and spring blooms, while Chinese lanterns encased the electric lights. During the evening the president made reference to the good work Miss Moyle had done for the club, and on behalf of the basketball girls, presented her with a box of handkerchiefs. Miss Moyle suitably replied, and was accorded musical honours. Supper was served by an energetic committee and helpers. The winners of the novelty dances were:—Lucky spot waltz, Miss M. L. Cloake and Mr W. Rouse; statue waltz, Miss A. Russell and Mr G. ”orter; Monte Carlo dance. Miss M. Rouse and Mr H. Smith. Mr T. AUen was master of ceremonies. Extras were played by Mrs R. Rouse and Miss Dellow. Music was supplied by Miss McPhail and Mr Finn. TENNIS. At the annual meeting of the Springbrook Tennis Club, Mr Beck presided over an attendance of 20 members. The secretary (Mr J. Rouse) presented a report of the activities of the last season. Four matches were played during the year—three on the home court and one at Lyalldale. Two matches were lost and two won. The club held a tourney on Easter Monday, and on the whole had a very successful season. The balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance. The election of a new committee was held, and resulted as follows:—President, Mr J. F. Rouse; secretary. Miss M. L. Cloake; treasurer, Mr S. Rogers; general committee, Misses D. Wilkie and J. Milliken, and Messrs P. Preston and H. Cloake; club captain, Miss M. Milliken. It was decided to open the season on October 7th with a Yankee tournament. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers.
