SOLDIERS SEIZE CONTROL

OFFICERS DEPOSED IN CUBA AWAITING REPUBLICAN REGIME United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 5, 5.5 p.m.) HAVANA, September 4. The sergeants, corporals and soldiers of the Cuban Army, headed by Sergeant Batista, and non-commis-sioped officers and the men of the Navy, took over command of the military and naval forces to-night, displacing all officers. Sergeant Batista said they would not relinquish control until a truly revolutionary government had been established. Then the command would be returned to the officers. The trouble arose over the proposed pay cut and the dissatisfaction of the soldiers with their commanding colonels.
