THE SWAGGER COAT

IDEAL FOR SPRING WEAR Coats are very varied this spring, and are, therefore, doubly interesting. The "swagger” coat is undoubtedly the newest and- smartest style. This Is a pert and daunty affair, cut with wide shoulders, from which it hangs on loose, slightly flaring lines. It is generally three-quarter length, and falls fully at the back. We must on no account wrap these coats about us, and it will be difficult to remember not to do so, after so many years of wrapping coats as closely about us as possible. Generally, a scarf collar finishes the coat, and this may either be tied in a bow under the chin or else the ends may be allowed to hang loose. Black and white checked coats are rather popular in this style; and they can be worn over plain black skirts or over coloured frocks. The swagger coat of pleasing brown wool matching a narrow skirt with buttons down the 'silhouette of the hips. An ordinary beige silk shirt completes this. But swagger coats are also part of a good many afternoon frocks, some of them with much less narrow skirts. Sometimes the neck has a band of fur round it, out of which rises a collar of the material.
