NEGLECTED HANDS.

Neglected hands and nails will soon respond to a little beauty treatment. And the busiest woman can surely spare the few minutes necessary. A solution made with equal parts of glycerine, rose water and lemon rubbed into the hands at bedtime and after they have been washed will soften and whiten them. "Broken nails should be filed round carefully and the tips of the fingers soaked in olive oil to heal torn cuticles. Then the -ops of the nails won't get that black, dingy look if you dig them into a bar of soap before tackling any turning out or gardening. And those half-moons will soon return if you remember to push the cuticles back with the towel after washing. STOCKING HINTS. Most runs in silk stockings are caused by the suspender-clip, and the holes in the heels are mostly caused by the slipping of the shoes. Both can be prevented. 1. Cover the suspender-clips with silk or wool in button-hole stitch, or crochet over them with a very fine crochethook in ordinary double crochet. 2. From an old kid or suede glove cut a heel-snugger, and stick this in the back of your shoe. You will be surprised how much longer you stockings will wear by paying attention to these two points.
