BASELESS INSINUATIONS AGAINST STAFF.

The report of the special committea set up by the Victoria University College Council to inquire into certain charges and insinuations made against the teaching staff of the institution, was presented at a meeting c College College this evening. In its report, which was adopted by the Council, the committee stated that it was satisfied that there had been no evidence adduced in any way reflecting upon the teaching staff_ of the College, and it considered that it deserved the entire confidence of the Council, and that any suggestions to the contrary were unfounded. The inquiry arose out of a controversy in the Wellington press lr. which certain Institutions and persons made statements concerning the conduct of the staff and students of the university.
