HOCKEY

MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the South Canterbury Hockey Association was held last night. Present —Messrs Davies (chairman), Elsom. Schudder and Cremins. It was decided to play the Stafford v. Rata game as a curtain raiser to the representative games against Ashburton to-morrow. Mr J. Cremins was appointed manager of the South Canterbury men’s team and Mr W. Gow and Mrs Elsom were appointed manager and chaperone respectively of the ladies’ team. The South Canterbury ladies are to wear Stafford colours. Mr L. Davies and W. G. Hawkey were appointed to referee in conjunction with Ashburton referees the men's and ladies' games respectively. It was decided to entertain the Ashburton teams at a dance to-morrow night. Advice was received that Mr C. Bishop, of Ashburton, had been appointed to referee (he ladles’ game. Mr S. Johnston was elected to fill the vacancy on the Management Committee. Both representative games will commence at 3 p.m. Members expressed their gratitude to Mr G. Hughes for his control of the ladies’ tourney last Saturday. TRINITY CLUB. The following will represent Trinity against Grantchester at 3 p.m. tomorrow—E. Turner, W. Dobell, R. Maxwell, W. Clark, N. Tooth, W. Renton.
