THIRTY ARRESTS MADE. By Telegraph—Pres' Association WELLINGTON, August 17. A simultaneous raid was carried out by a party of police this afternoon on five houses in Taranaki Street, where it was suspected that pakapoo was being played. The polloe made a clean sweep of every house, arresting in all 30 men, nine of them Chinese and the remainder Europeans. They will appear in the Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning.. Five Chinese will be charged with using the premises as common gaming houses, and the other 25 Europeans will be charged with being found on the premises without lawful excuse.
