RELIEF MEASURES IN ENGLAND

LEAD BY PRINCE OF WALES. British Official Wireless (Received August 15, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, August 14. Largely as a result of the lead given by the Prince of Wales in fostering local social work some fresh efforts have been undertaken and something of practical value has been accomplished by the personal Initiative and local combination of forces in many villages and almost every town. The Council Is in touch with 340 towns and villages where efforts are being made to face the local problem of unemployment, many thousands of men and women taking part. In addition the Council is interested in 600 schemes operating for the training, employment and entertainment of the unemployed.
