Williams in the Supreme Court, Auckland. "They always do —Montagues and so on,” remarked Mr Justice Herdman. The remark was made during the hearing of a case concerning the right of an Auckland company to use the name of a large Australian concern. A winter gathering of plums has Just been taken from a tree in the orchard of Mr H. C. Stiuircs, of Parua Bay, near Whangarei. The plums were mostly made into jam. The tree produced the usual crop of fruit last summer and came into blossom again at the end of March. The tree is now in blossom again, but has very few leaves. In the Parua Bay district there has been almost an entire absence of frosts this winter, and this is considered one of the causes contributing to the growth of the winter crop This is the first time the tree has produced lrult in the winter.
