SUNSHINE IN WINTER
VALUE TO YOUNG PIGS. From the pig breeder's point of view, sunshine in winter and early spring worth a very great deal for it is simply because of the lack of direct sunlight that young pigs, in winter especially, often fail to make that progress which in view of their feeding, might be expected of them. Sunshine is the most wonderful growth promoter, while in maintaining health there is nothing to equal it. It has been conclusively proved that rickets, if not actually caused by lack of sunshine, are at much less likely to appear in young pigs that have access to direct sunshine than in those that do not. Those w’ho still persist in keeping their young pigs shut up during the winter in damp and suness sties and yards have only themelves to blame if things go wrong.
