ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

NEW ZEALANDERS AGAIN DEFEATED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 13, 9.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 13. Tfye South Maitland Coalfields eleven defeated the New Zealand Association team at Cessnock to-day by one goal to nil, in a match that was full of interest. The teams were: New Zealand—Zuill, Stone, Gerrard, Stenhouse, Christie, Crabbe, Ives, Blackie, Burton, Kershaw, Groves. South Maitland—McNabb, Evans, Whitelaw, Porteus, Aylor, Shakespeare, O’Neill, McGarvie, James, Lannard, Kempe. James, who scored the only goal, was the only forward to thoroughly test Zuill. Just before the interval James sent in an oblique shot which Zuill did not attempt to stop. A few minutes later Zuill had to dive full length to deflect a ball out of the net. Play was very open throughout, and only occasionally was either goal in danger. Ives and Zuill created a very favourable impression. Christie's failure to move forward with the rest of the team allowed interceptions to be made and lost opportunities for the visitors, who were very unlucky not to win, as they were a far superior team.
