WAIMATE HUNT CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Committee of the Waimate District Hunt Club w'as held at the conclusion of a special general meeting of members on Wednesday night last. Present—Ceptain N. A. Rattray (in the chair), and Messrs C. C. Douglas, E. B. Fraser, E. C. d’Auvergne, T. V. Cooney, H. J. C. Harper, D. Macdonald, A. Medlicott, and J. S. Manchester.

The secretary reported having interviewed the majority of the members of the Committee of the Waimate Racing Club, and they were prepared to grant the use of the racecourse free of charge for a race meeting if a loss were experienced on the day, but would take 50-50 of the net profits, the Hunt Club to put the tracks in order after the meeting.—Members agreed that this was a fair and favourable offer.

The following programme was drawn up:—Studholme Hack and Hunters’ Hurdles, of £SO (hack conditions), 13 furlongs: Novice Stakes, of £35, 6 furlongs; Winter Trot, of £SO (saddle), li miles; Hunt Club Cup Steeplechase, of £4O, for qualified hunters, about 2i miles: Waihao Hack Handicap, of £4O, 6 furlongs; Morven Handicap, of £6O, one mile; Hunters’ Plate (flat), of £3O, for qualified hunters, 11 miles; Waimate Hack Handicap, of £SO, 7 furlongs.

The following officials were appointed for the meeting, subject to their consent:—Stewards, Messrs M. Cooney, J. Matheson, M. Meehan, H. N. Medlicott, J. Morris, G. A. McCulloch, A. V. Richards, T. Waldie; hon. timekeepers, Messrs J, F. Cooney and J. Dench; hon. surgeon. Dr. T. W. Wylie; hon. vet. surgeons, Messrs J. C. Hayhurst and W. Smith; lion, clerk of course, Mr R. Frost; hon. clerks of scales. Messrs T. Wilce and K. Stewart: starter. Mr J. H. Tompkins; judge, Mr C. E. Hassall; handicappers (gallops), Mr J. E. Henrys, (trots), Mr T. Fogg.

It was resolved to forward the programme as arranged for approval.
