WEST INDIES v. SOMERSET. HEADLEY’S DOUBLE CENTURY. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 8. In their first innings against Somer set, West Indies have lost six wicket for 482 runs (Barrow 70, Merry 7f Headley not out 224).
G. Headley, a member of the West Indies cricket team, who made 224 not out against Somerset, has a brilliant record. Against English and Australian teams up till this season he had averaged 70 runs per innings and had played in five Tests. In 1928. when only 19 years of age, he scored 211 runs against an English touring team. In Australia he scored 1000 runs. Headley is described by English critics as a bright and stylish batsman, and he has compiled many good scores on the present tour, notably 129 against Glamorganshire and 109 in the matcn West Indies v. M.C.C. In addition, he has made numerous scores in the vicinity of the century.
