SYDNEY, June 7. The flood waters are subsiding.
Serious Inundation.
A serious flood in the Nambucca river at Macksville is imminent. The river last night was almost level with the Main North Coast road, and it is still raining heavily. The danger of serious inundations on other rivers seems to have passed. Considerable areas of land are nevertheless under water. As much as 13 inches of rain fell in the Central coast district in 48 hours. GALES MODERATE. HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PERTH, June 7. After reaching a velocity of 56 miles per hour, the wind moderated, and the Maloja was able to enter and the Ormonde sailed. Heavy rain continues. The Swan river has risen, and lowlying ground is flooded. Reports from the country mention damage to the railways, roads and wheat lands. Temporary repairs to the railway line at Toodyay were swept away by the flood waters. In other districts the roads are under water, and fencing has been washed away.
