Mr Donald Grant left Timaru yesterday on a visit to Australia. Mr J. M. Jenkins left for Dunedin yesterday to attend the annual meeting of the Trustees Executors and Agency Co., Ltd. Chaplain, the Rev. G. Stubbs, H.M.A.S. Australia, who has been visiting New Zealand, returned to Sydney yesterday.
A cable message from London reports that Sir Robert Gibson, chairman of the Commonwealth Bank, is seriously ill, and his condition is causing anxiety.
An official wireless message from Rugby announces that Lord Duveen, an art expert and benefactor, has been appointed trustee of the National Gallery, succeeding Mr J. S. Clarke, who has resigned.
