WEST SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Committee of the Timaru West School, Mr T. C. Palliser presided. The chairman welcomed the new headmaster (Mr W. Romans), and hoped he would have a pleasant time at the school. From the Ex-Pupils’ Association a donation of £2 was received toward the school funds, and a letter thanked the Committee for the use of the school. It was resolved that the ex-pupils be thanked lor their donation. Visitors for the month (Messrs E. Laverty and L. R. Breen) reported that everything was satisfactory, except that some shingle was required fo. the play ground. The heating system had been altered and was a great improvement.
It was agreed that the Education Board be asked to provide a new shelter shed, the present one being too small to accommodate the pupils on wet days.
A deputation from the Ex-Pupils’ Association waited on the Committee and discussed matters in connection with their Association.
The chairman and the headmaster were appointed to meet the Association’s Executive, which would give some helpful advice. Mr R. W. Marshall was appointed delegate to the South Canterbury School Committees' Association.
Accounts amounting to £2B/2/5 were passed for payment.
