WAIMATE
OBITUARY. General regret was expressed in Waimate yesterday at the sudden and unexpected death of Mr Reginald ("Tubby”) Richards, of Elephant Hill, Waihao Downs. The deceased was born in the district, and throughout his life had an ever-increasing circle of friends, to whom the news of his passing came as a shock. He was the fifth son of the late Mr Edward Richards, of the Waihao Downs Estate, and at the time of his death he occupied Elephant Hill Station, which he had successfully farmed for many years. His death removes a prominent supporter of all sporting activities in the district, particularly of hunting, and his generosity and hospitality over a long period of years had made him the central figure of his neighbourhood in activities connected with movements for social benefit and any other object tending towards public welfare. The late Mr Richards leaves a widow and six children, with a large circle of relatives to mourn his loss. FOOTBALL.
