An intense anti-cyclone extends from south-eastern Australia to southern New Zealand, while pressure is low to the eastward. Conditions disturbed on the central east coast of Australia. Expect south-west to southerly winds, moderate to strong generally reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Seas moderate on the West Coast of the South Island, heavy between Akaroa and East Cape; elsewhere rather rough to rough. Weather fine In western districts of the South Island, elsewhere changeable. with scattered passing showers; improving gradually except in the far north and north-east. Temperatures cold, many frosts.
