RAILWAYMAN INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, June 6. While boarding the Bluff-Invercar-gill train at Greenhills this evening, Walter Henry Darlison, a signal adjuster, slipped, and a wheel of the guard's van passed over his foot, which was badly crushed. The injured man was moved to the Southland Hospital, and after an operation had been performed, it was rei rted that his condition was satisfactory. HIT BY CAR. By Telegraph—Press Association GORE, June 6. John McLeod (50), single, of Mataura, suffered a fractured skull, jawbone, and leg, when hit by a car on the Gore-Mataura main road last night. McLeod was watching a car going north, and was struck by a car going south, driven by Dr. Simpson, of Christchurch, who did not observe the pedestrian owing to the dazzling lights of the other car. McLeod was dragged for some 24 yards. His condition is serious.
