WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

TEMUKA. The monthly meeting of the Temuka Women’s Institute was held yesterday afternoon, the president (Mrs M. Ferguson) presiding. Mr Smythe and Miss Bell demonstrated various sewing machine attachments and stitches, and were accorded votes of thanks. A letter was read for the Institute’s “link” at Lee. England. A competitic.. for scones, judged by Mrs W. H. Davey, resulted: —Mrs J. N. Taylor 1. Miss Tarbotton 2. Miss G. A. Brown 3. Mrs L. J. Grant h.c. Miss Ferguson gave details of the arts and crafts exhibition to be held on Friday and Saturday. Mrs D. Taylor was appointed delegate to the Conference in Christchurch in July.
