DOPING OF PONY.
OWNER-TRAINER SUSPENDED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— copyright (Received May 7, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 7. The suspected doping of the pony Michael Feeney, at Ascot, a week ago, came to a head yesterday, when the owner-trainer, Percy Martell, was disqualified for life for improper conduct. His brother Leo, who allegedly gave the pony a drink from a bottle prior to running in the River Handicap, was also found guilty of improper conduct. The stewards will recommend that he be warned off the Ascot course for life. The pony was suspended for twelve months. Martell has given notice of appeal.
