NOT FOR COUNTRY’S GOOD
ARRIVAL OF STOWAWAY. By TelegraDn—Aecoclatlon WELLINGTON, May 6. Looking- at the record before him of Phillip Gordon Brazier (25) in the Supreme Court, Mr Justice Blair said that apparently the prisoner came as a stowaway in 1930, and the country had not been improved by his arrival. Brazier was found guilty yesterday afternoon on two charges of theft, and on a charge of breaking, entering and theft of cigarettes and tobacco from the Hawke's Bay Farmers’ Co-opera-tive stores at Dannevirke. He was sentenced to two years’ hard labour. In passing sentence, His Honour said he thought Brazier had properly been found guilty by the jury. He probably was not the only one involved in the offences, but at the same time he must have known the risk he was taking.
