HOUSEHOLDERS MEETINGS
FAIRVIEW. There was only a small attendance of householders in the Fail-view School on Monday night. The following new committee was elected:—F. E. Millar (chairman), E. G. Butler (secretary), W. W.‘ Sleight, W. J. Jackson, T. S. Campbell. CANNINGTON Mr Squire presided over a meeting of ten householders, at Cannington. The balance sheet showed a credit of £7, £4 of which was in the picnic and prize fund. Dental clinic matters were discussed, it being stated that the town schools were anxious to have country children treated so that the nurses could be retained, the cost per child per year being about 2/6. and that children were now being charted at two and a half years of age, and that treatment was continued up to the fourth standard. A recommendation that the Incoming committee take steps to have Cannington children treated was passed. A suggestion that the committee procure school books and collect the cost from the parents was favourably received. Only five householders accepted nomination for the committee—Messrs G. W. Squire (chairman i. T. H. Campbell (secretary), J. E. Blackmore, W. Thomson and T. Sugrue. WASHDYKE. The annual meeting of householders was fairly well attended. Mr Lorry was voted to the chair. The chairman complimented the committee on the clear statement of accounts, and comprehensive report furnished. Special reference was made to the amount of good work done under the unemployment scheme. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs A. F. Stocker (chairman), W. Parlane (secretary and treasurer), T. Atherton, G. G. Watt and C. Campbell.
