Vishinsky, alter three hours' questioning of Mr Allan Monkhouse, refused to extend bail to the nine Vickers employees still In prison. It is understood that the procurator refused to "accept delivery” of the Metropolitan Vickers Electric Company's demand for bail, on the ground that it "asserted the prisoners' innocence, and denied the validity of trial by the Soviet Court.” Date Of Trial Mentioned. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph,” understands that the Soviet intends to stage the trial of the Vickers employees early in April. The charges have still not been communicated to the British Ambassador. SOVIET PLAN DISCLOSED. POPULAR, DEMONSTRATION INTENDED. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 26. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” states that the Soviet has ordered the industrial centres psychologically to prepare the populace for the trial of Vickers’ engineers, declaring that the Government will not brook foreign interference. All discovered wreckers will be tried regardless of nationality, before a class tribunal. The statement attacks the British die-hards, particularly the Press, as being moralised by shareholders and robber companies to slander the Soviet and help the culprits to evade the law. The Court's pronouncement should be awaited as proof of the charges against the engineers and entails death or banishment, confiscation of belongings, or solitary confinement with forced labour for three years, accompanied by confiscation.
