AUSTRALIAN CLIP
REVISION OF ESTIMATE It is becoming more evident as the season advances that the early estimates of the Australian wool clip upon which the selling quotas were allocated are not likely to be realised. This applies equally to New South Wales, and is based on the fact that growers report reduced average returns for sheep shorn that are not counterbalanced by a greater number of sheep. It was expressly stated, of course, last June, that the estimate issued then was preliminary, and that it would be revised and finalised early in December. It is believed that buyers realise the position that actual production will fall short substantially of the June figures. As far as the Sydney centre is concerned the total arrivals of 877.683 bales on 'October 27 represent an increase of 46,248 bales over last season’s figures for the corresponding period. This increase, however, does not denote greater production so much as an earlier shearing and expedited deliveries, a feature which has been developing consistently during recent months.
