WIND UP? A London editress writes that she j has had more invitations for the dress j shows in Paris this month than she i ever remembers before. Paris, it would seem, finds her dress supremacy j definitely challenged, and is more and j more anxious to get all the publicity she can from the English newspapers. It is evident, too, that the heads of the great ateliers in the Rue de la Paix are devoting an increasing amount of time and money to getting the right people j over. They are no longer content to send casual invitations to newspaper editors in the hope that they will hand them over to the right person. They find out the actual name of the individual editress—not an easy task in Fleet Street where the anonymity of writers is strictly preserved. I once tried to get out a list of all the leading society writers on the London press, and though I claim to know i Fleet Street well. I found the task extraordinarily difficult.
