EPIC OF THE SEA

BRITISH SEAMANSHIP PRAISED. lilted Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 1, 9.15 p.m.) HONGKONG, November 1. The British steamer Glenshiel (Captain P. Sanders) has arrived with thirty-one Japanese seamen, rescued under most hazardous conditions from the trawler Shenshan Maru, which broke from her moorings during a typhoon near Pratas Shoal, and drifted 150 miles. The Glenshiel observed distress flares and hastened to ,the scene. She managed, with great difficulty, to manoeuvre alongside the sinking trawler, and dropped ladders, and rescued all aboard. Captain Sanders’s fine seamanship is greatly praised, as there was a tremendous sea running when the rescue was effected.
