AMASSED BY FRUGALITY AND WORK. By Tel egraph —Press Association AUCKLAND. November 1. The estate of the Late George McCaul, of Auckland, who died on October 17th, at the age of 96, is valued at £260.000. Practically the entire fortune was made since he came to Auckland 47 years ago, and established a business in Wellesley Street, as aai improver and manufacturer of plumber s supplies. Over £IOO,OOO out of the estate will go to the Government in death duties. Mr McCaul did not leave a will, and the balance of £160,000 will be divided between his two nieces— Miss Alice Mary McCaul, who lived with her uncle at Wellesley Street; and Mrs Edith Lucy Andrews, of Katoomba, New South Wales. Mrs McCaul died about 20 years ago. and there are no children. When he died. Mr McCaul was living in six rooms over his shop and factory in Wellesley Street. His mode of life was of the simplest. He did not own a motor-car, and he did not travel. He was a very hard worker, and scorned the thought of retiring.
