LONDON MEAT MARKET. The New Zealand Meat Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated 28th October, regarding the London meat market: Lamb market. —More inquiry for prime lambs, 361 b. and under, but others easier, especially second quality. Market continues overloaded with Home killed. Mutton market.—Wethers quiet, with trade slow; ewes, prices easier, with fair demand. Beef market. —Depressed owing to low prices of Home-killed selling at 5d per lb. for sides. N.Z. porkers.—Easier, in sympathy with heavier supplies and lower prices of Home killed. N.Z. baconers. —Nominal.

TEMUKA SALE.

The fortnightly sale at Temuka yards was held yesterday, and all departments offered large yardings. Fat cattle.—The 50 or more head offered were of good quality, and butchers were buying with care. The sale was easier by about £1 a head in some instances. The range of prices was—Fat steers. £5 to £8; fat heifers £3 2s 6d to £5 17s 6d. Fat cows £2 10s to £6, vealers 21/- to 37/6. Store cattle.—Owing to the flush of feed, store cattle were wanted at a price and most of the offering changed hands at slightly firmer rates. Some sales were: Bulls, 30/- to £4; 18-months steers £2; heifers, same age, 32/-; good coloured 3-year steers, £3 10s to £4 ss; yearling steers (poor colours) 21/- to | 23 6; 2-year ordinary steers £2 6s and I £2 9s‘ empty cows (poor) 5/- to 15/-, good 30 -to £2 15s: yearling steers [ good to 38/-; 18-month heifers, Jersey I cross £2 to £2 10s. Dairy cows.—This section met with ( an improved sale, and was better by |io - a head. Cows in profit realised from 30 - for poor sorts to £8 15s; j springing cows made from £4 to £8; Shorthorn heifers, springing, from £4 ito £6. A good Friesian heifer sold at i£7 ? s 6d - , j Fat sheep.—Values fell back by I about 2/6 a head on the previous Temuka sale. A large entry came forward. consisting for the most part of ewes. The wethers yarded were not up to the usual standard. Prices were— Fat ewes in wool, good 9/- to 10/-, lighter weights 7/- to 8/-; shorn ewes, i best to 7/6; lighter sorts 5/- to 6/-; fat woolly wethers, best to 15/-, light j weights 9/- to 10/-; fat wethers, shorn, best 11/- to 11/6. A few spring made from 12/to 13 6 for best, lighter ones bringing from 9/- to 10/-. pigs.—The drop of 3/- at the last sale was made up at yesterday s sale, a large entry meeting with keen competition. Best weaners brought up to 20/-, others 15/- to 18/-; slips 22 6 to 25/-; light porkers 30/- to 32/6. Store sheep.—This market remained unchanged. Sales made were: Extra good young ewes, with twin lambs. 8/4; medium ewe hoggets. 11/7; wether hoggets 9/10; aged ewes and lambs 3/11. PICCADILLY HOTEL’S SUCCESS.
