The Dail, by 68 votes to 49, passed the second reading of the Government Bill providing wounds and disability pensions for those who fought on the Republican side in the Civil War. MiFrank Aiken (Minister for Defence) said the British had set themselves out to start the Civil War and unfortuntely succeeded. He claimed that the Bill would be a real step towards national unity. The scheme would cost £30,000 in 1933.
