The action was continued to-day in which Norman “Wizard” Smith, the racing motorist, claims £20.000 damages from “Smith’s Weekly,” for an alleged libel contained in an article published on May 21. in which plaintiff contends he was publicly denounced as a coward in connection with liis motor speed trials on Ninety Mile Beach. New Zealand. Norman Smith was further crossexamined concerning the ten mile record on the Ninety Mile Beach, and the method of checking the speeds on Smith’s car. Evidence taken on the Commission in New Zealand in support of plaintiff’s case, relating chiefly to the condition of the Beach, when Smith wafl there, was read. The hearing was adjourned.
