Mr W. J. Bardsley, of Dunedin, who was chosen president-elect of the Baptist Union Conference, was formerly secretary to the Timaru Harbour Board for twelve years. Mr Leo. M. Chateau arrived from Christchurch yesterday to make arrangements for “The Barretts of Wimpole Street.” a J. C. Williamson production which is to be staged in the Theatre Royal. The death is recorded in Wellington, on Thursday, of Mr C. H. F. Macpherson, Inspector for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. The flag was flown at half-mast at the local branch of the Company yesterday in consequence.
