CHILD SCALDED IN HOT POOL By Telegraph—Press Association. ROTORUA, October 14. As a r-sult of severe scalds suffered ; by falling into a hot pool at Whakare- ) warewa this afternoon, a four-yeat- i old Maori child named Alex Eparaina was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. The boy W'as one of a party of children playing on a track in the vicinity of a spout bath. Apparently he ran off to hide from his companions, anr .stumbled into the water. His screan attracted attention and brought hi aunt from a nearby house: With the assistance of several helpers she sue ceeded in dragging the child from the pool, but ,by this time he was severe!; scalded and ivas reported to be in a dangerous condition when admitted to hospital. SHOOTING FATALITY, By Telegraph—Press Association, INVERCARGILL. October 14. Thomas Albert Henry (55), taxi proprietor, was found dead this evening near the railway line in the vicinity of Rugby Park, with a bullet wound in the left breast. The body was lying on one side of a fence, and a rifle on the other.
