Keep the patient in bed and apply tincture of iodine to the unaffected skin, about an inch beyond the red margin. This helps to prevent the rash spreading. Local applications of lead and opium lotion are of great value. Soak a piece of lint in the lotion and apply it wet. A good torAe, plenty of food and fresh air are essential.
