ENGINE TEMPERATURE

Keep an eye on engine temperature these days, as the very cool air experienced both in daytime and at night causes most motors to run over-cooled —a condition which is far more serious than over-heating, although few motorists seem to realise it. Cars with thermostatically controlled water flow or automatic shutters are well protected against this, but many cars have either manually operated shutters or no device at all for regulating the water temperature. In the latter case it may be advisable to fit a radiator muff, or even remove the fan belt. Wrecked motor vehicles were arranged in the roadside as a warning to motorists recently near a busy English township.
