HOME-MADE PASTE

One of the needs when there are children in the family is good, inexpensive paste, preferably paste that will not sour and which the children can manage themselves, a paste that will make things stick. So doubtless these directions for an excellent homemade paste will find a welcome in many a home: Dissolve in 1 quart of water, 1 teaspoonful of pure powdered alum. Stir this into enough flour to make a smooth paste of the consistency of thick cream. Then stir in 1 teaspoonful of powdered resin. Add slowly 1 cupful of boiling water, stirring slowly until the mixture thickens; then add a few drops of oil of cloves,. Keep covered in a glass or earthernware dish, and when wanted for use, soften as much of it as is needed with » little warm water.
