THE DAY’S PROGRAMME

| The committee of the Charity Footj ball Day Appeal announce completion of arrangements for their gala day. | A commencement will be made at 10 | a.m. with children’s sports on the Bay, j comprising kite-flying, treasure hunt, | and competitions with plenty of fun and prizes for the youngsters. At 12.15 the fire alarm siren will give the gala day signal, reminding citizens of the j monster procession leaving the Club ! Hotel Corner at 1.30 p.m. Entrants are ' to be in their places in the procession ! at 1.15 sharp. The procession will proceed by way of the Church Street ’bus route, and will disperse on arrival at Fraser Park. Vehicles in the procession will have Raymond Street as a parking place, and the usual parking places are available to private vehicles.

Horses taking part in the procession may be stabled at the New Zealand Express Coy’s stables. At Fraser Park admission charges I are 1/- for adults; 6d for school S children, with no charge for children j under six. At 2 p.m. the Mock Court will commence its sessions. In this connection, the committee again reiterates its announcement that fines will be merely nominal, and the maximum has been fixed at 1/-. The afternoon’s programme includes football matches between two comedy teams. (Kick-off by Mr Clyde Carr, M.P.), midgets’ matches, Oamaru P. and T. versus Timaru P. and T„ and the main feature. Police and Court Staff versus Rugby Union and Referees. A community sing wili be conducted at halftime, in the latter match, and during the afternoon the Court will function. A running broadcast of the match will be conducted by Mr A. E. S. Hanan, and numerous other diverting features will be introduced. In the evening the day’s enjoyment will be continued by a band concert on the Bay at 7,30, conducted by the Municipal and Pipe Bands, and at 8 p.m. there will be a dance in the Bay Tea Rooms, and a concert in the Bay Hall, at which the following artists will provide the entertainment:—Mrs Ballantyne, Miss R. Firkin, Miss G. | Grant, Messrs Wilton, Whitehouse, | Wills, Campbell, Hawkey (2), Richards, ’ Connors (2), Shrimpton, Master !D. Belcher, and Catholic Dramatic i Club.
