Pilots in Air Smash.—Left: Mr L. F. P. Taylor, an experienced civilian pilot, accompanied by Mr A. H. de Tourettes (right), who crashed in the Wellington Club’s Moth ’plane while returning from the air display at Levin. Mr Taylor was seriously injured, but his companion escaped with slight scratches and shock. The pilot tried to land in a street, rather than risk injury to some children. But for unluckily striking the power pole, the machine would have landed undamaged.
