POLICE RAID

BOOKMAKING CHARGES TO PE HEARD. WELLINGTON. August 28. Ai’ests carried out by detectives simultaneously in two hotels and tobacconists shops caused something of a stir in the city on Saturday afternoon. Three men were arrested, and with another who was arrested earlier in the afternoon they will appear in the police court to answer charges connected with alleged bookmaking. At the New Zealander and Alhambra Hotels, barmen were arrested, and at the tobacconists the occupier was taken in charge. The men were released on bail.
